About Us

Our History:

CEFP was opened in September, 2009 by six Coralville churches in response to increasing poverty and hunger in the community of Coralville. The food pantry is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization and is governed by a 15 member board of directors representing the Coralville community and churches.  Coralville residents whose resources for food are insecure can get enough groceries for their emergency needs once a week.  CEFP is a client-choice food pantry, meaning that the individuals and families who visit are given the opportunity to browse the shelves and select items that work best for them.  The majority of CEFP’s food is either purchased from HACAP Food Reservoir or donated byway of a local food rescue organization, Table to Table. CEFP also has a volunteer team that purchases nutritious and cost-effective food items in bulk from various local retail outlets.  CEFP also receives food from food drives held by various community businesses, schools, and places of worship.

Our Mission:

To engage our community in providing food for our neighbors. It is the goal of CEFP to foster collaboration with all Coralville residents, businesses and organizations to end hunger in our community.
